Shiryl Saturnino, a young single mom died last Sunday while she was going through three different cosmetic surgeries—breast augmentation, butt surgery and liposuction.
Shiryl Saturnino died from cosmetic surgery
The initial probe revealed that last Saturday, the 29-year-old businesswoman Shiryl Saturnino went to the Icon Clinic in Mandaluyong City at around 5pm together with her relative Shiela Mae Anabe Deinla to undergo the said operations.
Saturnino was then taken to the operating room where doctors Jose Jovito Mendiola and Samuel Eric Yapjuangco executed the liposuction, butt surgery and breast augmentation procedure which lasted until about 2:40 a.m. Sunday.
According to The Philippine Star, the two doctors tried to revive her through a mouth-to-mouth resuscitation after noticing that Saturnino’s heart was no longer beating. But after seeking the help of Makati Medical Center, Dr. Kristel Marie del Rosario, who was with the medical team ambulance, pronounced Shiryl Saturnino dead at around 3:21 a.m.
Noli and Shirley Saturnino, parents of Shiryl Saturnino, requested for an immediate investigation on their daughter’s death:
“We should determine whether there is negligence during the operation and file necessary charges,” Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, Eastern Police District (EPD) director said to City Police Chief Senior Superintendent Joaquin Alva the in his directive about the young businesswoman’s case.
Alva coordinated that Icon Clinic doctor’s Jose Jovito Mendiola and Samuel Eric Yapjuangco vowed to the police investigators that “they would cooperate fully in our probe of the incident. They promised to forward their statements regarding the case as prepared by their respective lawyers.”
The Mandaluyong City Police Chief also stated they will also have to wait for the autopsy result to set the proper charges that should be filed against the two cosmetic surgeons.
